LAST COINAGE of Republic of China

Right at the end of the Nationalist Republic, when hyperinflation had destroyed the credibility of paper money, coins began to be circulated again.

Xinjiang Province also minted silver dollars with prominent date in western numerals, 1949, obverse legend in Chinese characters giving the date (year 38 of the Republic and the place of mintage) and reverse inscriptions in Turki.
